About Us
We are a family run business, located in Western Montana. We have grown from raising 1,500 laying hens, to 9,000 laying hens. As we have grown and expanded our business, we have still maintained a fresh product. Our eggs are collected, processed (washed, candled, sorted, graded and packaged) and refrigerated twice a day. We get new chicks every 6 months and rotate our laying hens out to maximize production. Old hens go to local people who utilize them continued egg production or for meat
Practices
Mission Mountain Organic Eggs is a certified organic chicken farm located in the Flathead River Valley at the base of the Mission Mountains in Northwest Montana. This is a family run business with attention paid to the details of all the extra healthy practices that go even beyond the certified organic requirements of no chemically fertilized or sprayed feeds, or added hormones required by the National Organic Program.

Organic
Our chickens have rotational, irrigated, clover and grass pastures all around their barns, so they are turned to fresh pastures regularly to get those added Omega 3 levels, and other vitamins, in their eggs. We feed no soy products and no corn products in the rations, so there is no worry about the health hazards and hormones recently discovered from those grains. We also include fresh, organic, home grown, green barley spouts, or sometimes called barley fodder, that we grow in trays for 7 days, and then feed daily, to ensure our birds have plenty of "green" in their diet. Without yellow pigments from a typically corn based diet, our barley, pea, and wheat rations, with added "greens" and pasture on the menu, keeps the egg yolks a pleasingly yellow color to the eye.

In addition to the completely certified organic feeds that our birds eat, we also clean our eggs through a hot water spray only, never using any harmful egg soaps, and our water, from underground aquifers fed by mountain springs, is non-chlorinated and untreated, the same as our family, and our chickens, drinks every day, so you can be sure there are no residual chemicals to worry about. With our children all getting older, and helping more, we've recently expanded our operation and doubled our production. From our family to yours, taste our eggs and discover the delicious difference that an egg from a healthy, happy, certified organic, and more naturally fed chicken can make. It's summer, and what's a picnic without deviled eggs, egg salad, or even egg crumbles on a green salad, and, after all, what is any breakfast without healthy eggs to start out the day in any season?

**Due to a change in the fresh greens provided to our birds during the winter season, the yolks will present a different pigmentation from light to dark yellow.

According to a new study by Mother Earth News*, eggs from hens raised on pasture have: 1/3 less cholesterol, 1/4 less saturated fat, 2/3 more Vitamin A, 7 times more Beta Carotene, 3 times more Vitamin E, and 2 times more Omega-3 fatty acids than standard "factory farm" eggs.
